Hello and a very big welcome,
I am Elizabeth Misek, an award winning Illustrator, picture book author and facilitator for the Maitland ‘Kid Lit’ group for writers and illustrators, held by the ‘Hunter Writers Centre’.
In 2023, I won the ‘New England Writer Centre’ Picture Book Prize, which is a nationally recognised award in Australia.
I also received a ‘statement of recognition’ from the Parliament of NSW, for the same illustration.
This opened to doors for my illustration career.
Not only did a get a one on one meeting with ‘Sophie Masson’ “amazing and inspiring”, it helped shine a light on my work, throughout the kid lit industry.
Later this year, my first illustrated Picture Book will be on the shelves, written by Chantel Volker and published through Pegasus Publishing UK.
I have also signed a contract with EK Books to illustrate a PB by Jess Galatola, which will start in mid 2026 and be on the shelves 2028, I can’t wait!
My mentor ‘Margrete Lamond’, I am ridiculously grateful for the knowledge she has shared through her courses and one on one mentoring.
Me as an illustrator and author, I honestly can not get enough. I love every aspect and I will continue to learn and grow.
I love creating illustrations that are unique and whimsy, have depth and connect.
On a personal level, I am quite introverted but when I warm up, I will talk your ears off.
I love gardening, hanging with my family including my four fur babies and pottering around the house.
