How I can help

I bring a mix of illustration, story, design training and hands-on picture book experience to every project I work on.

When I read a manuscript, I start building the world around it. The setting, the emotion, the movement, and all the little visual details that help the story connect.

My work combines traditional watercolour and pencil with an intuitive, emotionally led approach to storytelling. I love creating expressive characters, unique landscapes and believable story worlds children want to step into.

Before picture books, I studied design fundamentals and visual merchandising, where I learnt about perspective, composition, colour theory, shape, space, balance and how to guide the eye. Those skills now shape the way I plan picture book spreads, build scenes and create illustrations that feel cohesive from the first page to the last.

I also keep learning through courses, critique groups, reading, mentoring and being active in the kidlit community. I have facilitated picture book critique groups, judged children’s writing and illustration entries, contributed feedback to emerging creators, and supported authors and illustrators as they shape their ideas.

I won the New England Illustration Prize for Children’s Picture Book Publishing in 2023, and since then my work has continued to grow through client projects, publishing opportunities, collaborations and ongoing study.

As an autistic and dyslexic creator, I notice story, feeling and detail in a deeply visual way. I feel the emotional thread of a manuscript strongly, and I love helping authors and illustrators see what is already working, what may need strengthening, and where the next clear step might be.
